Description
The Devil is Roman numeral XV or number 15. Fifteen reduces to a six pairing with the Lovers. As such the Devil is about the challenges six can bring leading to anxiety, being over controlled, codependent and suffering guilt. The negative aspects of the number six result in a limited outlook, unreasonable behaviour and excessive worrying A beautiful young woman stands before a mirror. In her right hand she holds a red rose symbolizing love. Around her left ankle is a delicate chain anklet, on her wrists she wears silver bracelets with spiral engraving representing purity and growth. At her feet sits a large ripe apple representing her intellect and the overflowing box of riches speaks to her abundance. In her left hand is a pot marigold, which has two distinct meanings, either health, joy and affection, or grief, jealousy and misery, depending on how they are perceived. The devil sits atop the mirror, reflecting back to her a distorted illusion of herself. She believes that she is walled in, chained to her suffering and bound to her problems. The Devil is getting in the way of her living her life by causing her to become consumed by fear and feelings of loss and inadequacy. On the ground in front of her is a broken mirror. On the back of the mirror it says ‘look into the mirror of your soul’ and the broken mirror pieces spell out the word L I V E D’ which is the Devil spelled backwards. In the centre is a pearl of wisdom. The Earth Deva, resting in the hills, can only see the beauty of the girl and is saddened by what the girl is doing to herself. The Deva’s river of tears run across the young woman’s feet bringing her the clarity to see the Pearl of Wisdom in the mirror is the same she has around her neck. Drawing on the energy of the pearl, she will be able to face her fears and see herself for the beautiful woman she is.
